GovTech Lab Lithuania is organizing this week the GovTech Week_ online conference. The purpose of this event is to bring global policy and technology experts, startup founders and investors together to discuss the latest trends in the public sector. Topics vary from day to day:
- Delivering the European Green Deal (Monday)
- Rethinking public services (Tuesday)
- Exploring tech in policy-making on (Wednesday)
- Embracing digital democracy (Thursday)
- International GovTech day (Friday)
I was invited to discuss whether digital citizens can save democracy in panel of the fourth day composed by:
- Mauricio Mejía, Policy Analyst at OECD
- Rimvydas Baltaduonis, Coordinator of the Civic Initiative “LTiVote”
- Patrick Berckmans, Director Digital Democracy, Citizen Interactions & Web Accessibility at Belgian Federal State
- Pablo Aragón, Researcher at Eurecat and board member of Decidim

The panel was truly enriching and we were able to share and discuss lessons and open challenges when deploying civic technologies for participatory democracy.
