For the second consecutive year, I went to Mexico invited by Paola Ricaurte to give a three day course at the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey. The syllabus of theoretical concepts on social network analysis followed the same schema of last year:
- Introduction to graph theory
- Structural metrics
- Community detection methods
- Centrality measures
- Diffusion models
- Conversation dynamics
- Case-studies of political communities on Twitter
In addition, this year I replaced the review of digital methods tools with a tutorial on social network analysis using the R package igraph. The last day, the attendees completed a personal project using the social network analysis techniques presented during the first two days.
