Today the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) organized the annual Doctoral Student Workshop. This workshop is conceived as an opportunity for PhD students to interact with other researchers, as well as gaining experience in participating in posters sessions.
For this edition (the 4th one of the series and the 1st one for me), I submitted the poster “Boosting Online Democracy through Social Computing“. The poster introduced the research questions and preliminary results that I am addressing in my first year as PhD student at UPF. The workshop was truly valuable, I could exchange ideas with colleagues and refine some of my hypotheses and methods. Furthermore, the poster was selected as the best poster by popular vote which leads to a travel grant of up to 1400€ to attend a scientific event related to the PhD research. The Maria de Maeztu Strategic Research Program launched the Prize for Reproducibility in PhD research and the poster became one the seven finalists that will compete for an equivalent grant in the next Maria de Maeztu Workshop.
