The Mobile World Congress (MWC2013) has generated nearly 100,000 tweets per day, making it to a Twitter trending topic in Spain between February 25, 10am and 26 February 7pm.
In Barcelona Media Research Foundation (member of Tecnio network) we have analyzed tweets containing ‘MWC’, ‘MWC13’ and/or ‘Mobile World’.
The animated map shows the impact of the MWC on Barcelona’s metropolitan area. As expected, the primary location of geo-located tweets is Fira de Barcelona, where the event is running. There is also a lot of tweeting activity near Plaça Espanya and various tourist facilities and hotels in the Catalan capital.
