This week, I had the pleasure of being in Copenhagen to attend the AAAI International Conference on Web and Social Media (ICWSM-25), one of the premier venues for computational social science and social computing. This nineteenth edition marked ten years since I first participated in ICWSM, and has been a very fulfilling experience, as I had the opportunity to:
- Chair the Tutorial track with Tunazzina Islam and Rezvaneh (Shadi) Rezapour, getting very impressed by the quality of the submissions.
- Present ongoing research on crowdsourced content moderation conducted with my Wikimedia Foundation colleagues Isaac Johnson, Claudia Lo, and Diego Sáez Trumper.
- Support Mykola Trokhymovych, who delivered a great presentation of our joint work at Universitat Pompeu Fabra on knowledge manipulation, together with Oleksandr Kosovan, Nathan Forrester, Diego Sáez Trumper, and Ricardo Baeza-Yates.
- Receive an award for my contributions to the Senior Program Committee.
It was a joy to (re)connect with my home research community and to discover excellent new work in social computing and computational social science. Big thanks to the General Chairs, Mathieu Jacomy and Florian Meier, as well as the Program Chairs, Eniana Mustafaraj, Ingmar Weber and Juhi Kulshrestha, for their outstanding organizational efforts… already looking forward to the next edition!
