University of Konstanz Seminar

This week, I had the pleasure of being invited by David García and Taehee Kim to give a seminar at the University of Konstanz. David and I worked together many years ago during my PhD thesis on a literature review of generative models of online discussion threads, and more recently, I collaborated with him and Taehee on an ongoing project on historical revisionism in Japanese Wikipedia.

The seminar marked the opening session of the University of Konstanz’s MSc course on Wikipedia Data in Computational Social Science. For this special occasion, I prepared a talk titled A Tour through Source Reliability in Wikipedia. I explored key aspects of source reliability, including the Wikipedia principles and empirical studies by the WMF’s Research team on source quality over time, source quality across language editions, source controversiality and reference risk. I concluded by highlighting various challenges and opportunities, aiming to inspire future research in this dynamic field, so I am very excited to see the students’ final projects!
